11-4pm

Main Street, Rockland, ME

What To Expect: The Sunday Strolls are community events organized by Rockland Rolls, Rockland Makers Market and Rockland Main Street as an opportunity for the community to gather, bike, walk, skate, dance, play and shop on a re-envisioned Main Street - Car-Free & Carefree on Main Street!

The street will be temporarily closed to motorized traffic between Park Street and Glovers Passage (Ada’s Kitchen) from 10am until 5pm. Visitors will be able to view performances, shop the Rockland Makers Market, take part in games and activities, and enjoy the expanded outdoor space of the downtown and its businesses.

Vendor Types: Artists, craftspeople and makers of all types are welcome to apply. (Please note that community-focused groups, non-profits or educational groups may request booth space free of charge to promote community-focused programs and activities. Interested groups should contact Sunday Strolls event organizer, Matthew Ondra at matt@rocklandrolls.org.)

Dates for Sunday Stroll 2024: Third Sunday of each month May-October

  • May 18 - Theme: Plants

  • June 15 - Theme: Summer

  • July 20 - Theme: Nautical

  • August 17 - Theme: Art

  • September 21 - Theme: Wellness

  • October 19 - Theme: Fall

Themes: Each event will have a different theme. You do not have to sell products according to the theme, but you might want to as the theme will probably draw visitors interested in that particular topic.

Times: The Sunday Stroll runs from 11am to 4pm. Main Street (from Park-Tillson Street) will be closed beginning at 10am. (Please note that this is a new time this year and it is currently not set in stone as it needs to be approved by the city of Rockland. Flexibility is key to success at the Sunday Strolls as there are a lot of variables at each event - it’s not every day we shut down Route 1!) The makers market will run from 11-4pm this year, however you may still be finishing final touches to your booth set-up after 11am. All cars must be off the street by 10:45am, and the street must be cleared by 5pm as it will reopen to vehicular traffic at that time.

You will receive set-up instructions, including your booth location, prior to each date that you participate (usually on the Monday or Tuesday before each market).

Early Departure/No-Show Policy: The success of each market depends on the commitment of the participating artists.  Early departures from any market is NOT allowed. If an emergency arises and you need to leave early, please notify market staff immediately so that arrangements can be made.

Any early departure or no-show without notification to market staff will result in forfeiture of booth space at future Rockland Makers Market events with no refunds.

Trash: Trash is carry-in/carry-out by each vendor.

Tables, Tents, Displays, Weights:

  • All booth spaces are 10'x10'.

  • You provide your own tent, table, chair and any other displays. There will be none available to rent at the event. Tents are not required, but highly advisable.

  • If you are using a tent, you must also provide weights for your tent--AT LEAST 40 LBS PER TENT LEG, clearly anchored/attached to your tent by sturdy means, not resting on the feet of your tent.

  • Tent weights are critical, non-negotiable and REQUIRED. New England weather is not predictable. One gust of wind and a tent can fly—potentially causing an accident, injury or worse.  Many commercial tent makers manufacture weights specifically for this purpose. Please contact us for more information about weights if you are unsure of how to address this issue - there are many low cost ways to make it happen.

  • If you do not bring the required weights with you, with appropriate tethering, you will be asked to remedy the situation prior to the opening of the market, and you will be asked to dismantle your tent until the necessary weights arrive. If you are unable to procure them prior to the market opening time for that day, you will need to go without a tent or leave if the weather is bad. There are no refunds should this situation arise. It's just too important to make exceptions.
